4 Tips to be more Sustainable with your Pets

We all know that Plastic-Free July is about reducing our plastic usage, but did you know that it can also be done with your pet? Being more sustainable when choosing your pet's items is easier than you think.

In this blog post, we will discuss 4 easy tips that will help you reduce the amount of plastic you use when caring for your pet. By making a few simple changes, you can make a big difference in the environment while still providing your pet with the best care. So let's get started!

Choose sustainable staples

Most of the pet products available in the market today are made from plastic. Not only does this mean that they have a significant environmental impact, but they also tend to have a short lifespan.

One easy switch is to choose a non-plastic alternative to your pet essentials. These materials, such as the fishing nets used to make Tangle products, tend to be long-lasting and much more environmentally friendly than plastic. Not only are they durable and resistant to scratches, but they are also easy to clean and won't leach harmful chemicals into your pet's food or water. Check out our bowl if you need one!

For most pet owners, toys will be the things that you go through the most. From tennis balls to squeaky toys, to chews - rarely will we find one that stands the test of time. Plastic-made toys can be easily destroyed and will end up in landfill, so you'll want to find one that is made from something tougher e.g. rope toys tend to be super strong and resilient.

Paper bag

The majority of pet food and treat brands use single-use plastic to package their items.

When shopping for dog food and treats, look for brands that use biodegradable or more sustainable packaging. Some brands even use compostable or recyclable materials, making it easier for you to dispose of them in an environmentally conscious way.

Brands  such as Forthglade provide instructions on their website to guide you through recycling their products and Benyfit Natural use ocean plastic for their food tubs!

plastic free dog poo bags

Let's face it, poop bags are a must-have item for any dog owner. But have you ever stopped to think about how many plastic bags we use to pick up after our furry friends? It's staggering! Luckily, there are brands out there that have created biodegradable poo bags that are not only good for the environment but are also convenient and practical.

When it comes to choosing eco-friendly dog products, biodegradable poop bags are a no-brainer. These bags are made from recycled materials, making them a much better alternative to traditional plastic bags. They're designed to break down naturally over time, reducing the amount of plastic waste in our landfills and oceans.

The benefits of using a biodegradable poo bag don't stop there. Because they're made from eco-friendly materials, they're also less harmful to our planet's natural resources. And because they're sturdy and easy to use, you don't have to worry about any messes when you're out on a walk with your dog.

If you're looking to be more eco-friendly with your pet care routine we highly recommend Adios ! Ben and Sadie wanted to offer a truly environmentally friendly option when it comes to picking up after your dog and they’re doing a pretty great job of it.
